Attractions in Denver
Lakeside
This fun amusement park is a top attraction in Denver and just a short drive from the airport. The park has been a staple of Denver for decades and has a vintage, retro feel to the place. Children and adults alike will love the thrilling rides, family friendly attractions and exciting games. The biggest and most popular attraction in Lakeside is the Cyclone. Cyclone is a wooden roller coaster built in the 1940s that remains an iconic symbol of Denver to this day.
Denver Mint
As one of the main coin producers in America, the Denver Mint is a fascinating place to explore. The mint offers a chance for visitors to learn how coins of all varieties are made, what metals are used and even what happens to coins when they are old and no longer used as currency in the United States. More American money is made right in the Denver Mint than in any other location in the entire world. Be sure to take one of the guided tours that start sharply on the hour and takes you through the entire mint facility.
Denver Zoo
This zoo is located right in the heart of Denver's biggest public green space, the City Park. The Denver Zoo is open every day of the year and is a highlight for city locals. Expect to find a range of animals in their natural habitats rather than in small cages. A top feature of the zoo is Bear Mountain, where bears roam along cliffs that are actual small-scale replicas of mountain ranges in Colorado. The Denver Zoo also boasts an indoor rainforest habitat and the Primate Panorama, where apes and monkeys have free roam in just over seven acres of land. For a unique experience, ride the Pioneer Train. This train runs through the Denver Zoo and was the first zoo train in the United States to run exclusively on natural gas.
Denver Art Museum
Although there are well over a dozen different museums in the city of Denver, the Denver Art Museum is recognized as one of the best choices for children as well as adults. The building itself is a unique piece of modern art, thanks to abstract pieces that extend from the roof and strange angles that set it apart from neighboring structures. Set aside a few hours to tour the extensive museum as well the outdoor sculpture garden.
