Shopping in Denver
Having more than 50 shops spread out in four terminals, Denver International Airport offers a shopping experience similar to that of a mall. However, if these stores and businesses don't satisfy visitors, there are plenty of other great shopping opportunities near one of the busiest airports in the United States.
DEN Airport is situated in a very undeveloped area, so there isn't much to do if you're not exploring the terminals. However, such a location makes it easy and convenient to navigate the Denver area because of the suburban character near the airport. The shopping districts of Downtown Denver are more than 20 miles away from the airport, but there are great options not too far away from the airport. The closest major shopping center near DEN is the Town Center at Aurora. This shopping mall is located along Alameda Avenue in one of the largest cities in the Denver Metropolitan Area. It is about an easy ten-minute drive from the airport's Pena Boulevard (which becomes Airport Blvd) to this shopping center. Featuring more than 125 stores spread out on two levels, the Town Center of Aurora offers great selections of apparel, shoes, gifts, toys, electronics, and much more. Additionally, four anchor department stores have all of the items that locals and tourists may want.
Being a typical suburban shopping mall, the Town Center at Aurora has thousands of outdoor parking lots. Considering that DEN airport has more than ten car rental companies, shopping at Aurora is very convenient for most tourists. Directly across the mall is another large shopping plaza that is known as the Aurora City Place. It also has thousands of parking spaces for cars and has a pedestrian friendly layout. The Town Center at Aurora and Aurora City Place both offer a variety of dining options at family friendly restaurants.
The rest of the shopping areas nearest to Denver International Airport are typical small suburban strip malls and plazas that are scattered throughout some of the major local roads of Aurora. Colifax Avenue is lined with hundreds of small local businesses and some chain stores and pharmacies.
Other major shopping malls in the Denver area are located well over 30 miles from the DEN airport. This includes Park Meadows Mall, Flatiron Crossing, and Colorado Mills. The dozens of shuttle and charter companies that serve the airport can take passengers to any of the shopping centers throughout the Denver Metropolitan Area.
